A glimpse into our process:
Starting with unformed terra cotta clay, we either use potters wheel, a slab or a mold to make the individual pieces. When dried, all the decorating is done by hand, brushing on individual underglazes to get the desired colors. The final step is to apply our own leadfree clear glaze and then to fire the pieces to 2000 degrees. We do all the work ourselves. The result is something I hope is unique -- a piece for your enjoyment that can be used in the home to cook and serve in.
Terra Cotta is perfect for the oven- in fact it has been used for cooking for over 10,000 years. The clay holds the temperature at a constant level and transmits the heat very well. Your baked items cook extremely well without burns from hot spots. We don't recommend microwaving. It isn't dangerous but the extremes of heat can shorten the pots life. If you love your pottery (all pottery) it will last much longer if you keep it out of the microwave and use Pyrex.
We have been creating worked to be used and loved for over 30 years. We believe that everyday items should be a joy to use and make your world beautiful.
